Boyne Island was closer to the place we needed to visit, but as a bonus, it was also a little cheaper than nearby Tannum Sands. Only disadvantage is if you don't have a car or push bike or if you want a beach-view. We ate at the Tannum Sands tavern, returning a second day because we were so pleased with the meals. Next visit we plan on bringing push bikes and/or hiring a kayak. We stayed off-peak on a weekend and it was lovely not having the usual crowds found at other beach locations that we have been to in the past. The community in all areas we frequented were friendly and warm, which also made for a very pleasant stay. :-)
